Soutzoukakia – an amazing dish, easy to make and tastes like you were in Greece !!


  • Prep Time: 15 min
  • Cooking Time: 20-25 min

  • 4 servings

  • 500 g minced lamb
  • 1 yellow onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley leaves
  • 1 tbsp chopped mint
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 can of crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon tomato puree
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • Olive oil
  • Salt & Pepper

Finely chop the onion and put half in a bowl. Press down a clove of garlic. Lay down the minced lamb and add eggs, chopped herbs, cumin and salt and pepper to taste. Mix to a smooth batter and form oblong meatballs that you place on a rinsed plate or cutting board.

Fry the meatballs all around in olive oil in a frying pan. After a few minutes, add the rest of the chopped onion and a clove of garlic and let it fry until the onion is soft. Then add the crushed tomatoes, tomato puree and sugar and cook for about ten minutes.

Serve with rice or potatoes.
